Black Swallowtail Drying Wings. This Black Swallowtail has expanded its wings and now must wait for them to completely dry. The butterfly clasps onto an object and lets the wings hang down while periodically opening and closing them to strengthen wing muscles and aid in the drying process. Some very interesting visual shapes are sometimes formed during this activity. 200mm f/4
