Detail Two of Bees Disappearing as Pollinators, 'Extinct Bees That Previously Pollinated Monarda'; 2018; 11 x 10 1/2 inches; colored pencils, graphite pencils and pastels. In this closeup, white bees and their white paths of flight are delineated with dark outlines. The white ghost like bee shapes represent the disappearance of bees due to disease, loss of habitat and man's use of pesticides. They contrast with the rest of the colored composition to ensure that their absence is noticed by viewers.
